a
TEP Microgrant Program

Transforming 2TIGE lives,
one grant at a time.

Direct, no-strings-attached financial support for 2Spirit, Trans, Intersex, and Gender Expansive people across the U.S. facing immediate needs.
WHAT THIS PROGRAM IS

Fast, fair, and built for real needs.

The TEP Microgrant Program is an ongoing, community-funded initiative providing direct financial support to 2TIGE individuals in the United States. Unlike traditional grants, these microgrants are designed for speed and accessibility — because when someone is facing an urgent need, waiting weeks or months isn’t an option.

$200 doesn’t sound like much. But for someone choosing between rent and groceries, it can change the entire month.

Funding cycles completed

As the need in our communities to grow, so does the urgency of this work. Every dollar donated directly increases the number of people we’re able to support.

How it works

Five steps. Fast by design.

1

We fundraise for the pool

Donations are collected and reserved until we have enough to run a full cycle.

2

A funding cycle is announced

When funds are ready, we announce across our social media and communication channels.

3

Applications open

Short, scheduled windows ensure fairness and accessibility for all applicants.

4

Recipients are selected

Weighted by need and identity factors, then chosen through a randomized drawing for fairness.

5

Funds distributed quickly

Recipients are notified within days. Funds are typically distributed within the same week — because once someone has been selected, waiting isn’t an option.

Why it matters

A small amount can change everything.

$200 doesn’t sound like much. But for someone choosing between rent and groceries, it can change the entire month.

For 2TIGE people who’ve spent their lives being told their needs don’t matter, a microgrant isn’t just money — it’s proof that someone showed up.

A microgrant can help someone:

Stay housed
Access medication
Get to work
Buy groceries
Avoid unsafe situations

Frequently asked questions

Got questions? We’ve got answers.

What is the typical grant amount?

Our current goal is $200 per person, distributed to 30 individuals per cycle — that’s $6,000 per cycle, fully funded by community donations. Just $200 funds one complete microgrant.

What is a microgrant?

A microgrant is a small, direct cash grant designed to help individuals meet immediate needs. Unlike traditional funding, microgrants are fast, flexible, and intended to support real-life situations as they happen.

When will the next application cycle open?

Funding cycles open quarterly as sufficient funds are raised. Because this program is entirely community-funded, timelines can vary. Follow us on social media to be the first to know when applications open.

How are recipients selected?

All applications are reviewed for eligibility first. Eligible applicants receive weighted consideration based on identity (including BIPOC, disabled, and caregiving status) and level of need. Final selection is through a randomized drawing to ensure fairness and accessibility.

How quickly are funds distributed?

Quickly by design. Applicants apply during a scheduled window, receive notification within a few days, and receive funds within the same week once verification and payment details are completed.

Is there a limit to how many people can apply?

There is no set cap on applications. However, because funding is limited, not all eligible applicants will receive a grant during each cycle.

Do I have to repay the grant?

No. Microgrants are not loans and do not need to be repaid.

What happens after I’m selected?

You’ll confirm your payment details and share a short story — text or video — about how the microgrant will support you. Stories help us demonstrate impact and continue funding future cycles. They can always be shared anonymously.

Will my information be kept private?

Yes. We only collect what’s necessary to verify eligibility and distribute funds. Any stories shared publicly are done with your consent and can always be anonymous.

Why we require identity verification

To ensure fairness and protect the integrity of the program, all applicants are required to verify their identity. This helps us:

Prevent duplicate or fraudulent applications

Ensure funds are distributed equitably

Confirm recipients meet basic eligibility requirements

We accept a wide range of documentation — including non-government ID

Help fund the next microgrant cycle.

Every microgrant we distribute is made possible by community support. Your donation doesn’t provide abstract help — it becomes something real:

A week of groceries
A rent payment that prevents eviction
A prescription that can’t wait
A way to get to work, stay safe, and keep going

Fund the next cycle

Just $200 funds one full microgrant.
